One of the benefits of going back to school, and working on my Master's in Computer Science, is that my department organizes informal talks with some amazing folks. Today, the speaker was Donald Knuth. Yes, *that* Donald Knuth.
Aside from the awe factor, there were little phrases dropped here and there. Little phrases and ideas that really resonated with my own geeky brain. The most vibrant was the whole concept of symbolizing approximation. How do we let go of irrelevant details, and make our computational lives easier and more efficient?
I will certainly have to explore this more.
