Question: How Does Flash CS4 Color Panel Calculate Hue?

FlashColorPanel
Originally uploaded by galaxygoo1
I'm puzzled. For a project, I need to calculate the hue of a color from its rgb values. I've found a few different methods to do this, and coded up two of them. They return consistent results, and agree with online calculators I've found. So far, so good.

But then I opened up the Flash CS4 color panel, to quickly look up colors, and found that it uses different hue values. And I'm wondering why?

When I plug an RGB value like (153, 153, 255) into my code, I get back a Hue value of 240. Those same values in the Flash color panel gives a different value for Hue (160).

This has got my curiosity truly piqued. I was hoping to be able to post an answer, but I haven't had any luck finding one yet.

Google's new "Interest Based" AdSense

So, I'm not sure what I think of Google's upcoming "interest based" advertising through AdSense. On the surface it seems like it crosses the line in terms of personal privacy while reading blogs. Essentially, they will track users even when the user has left your site.

I haven't made a decision yet, but I'm strongly leaning toward dropping Google AdSense when it goes into effect.

Here's an excerpt of an email from Google, about the program:

We're writing to let you know about the upcoming launch of interest-based advertising, which will require you to review and make any necessary changes to your site's privacy policies. You'll also see some new options on your Account Settings page.

Interest-based advertising will allow advertisers to show ads based on a user's previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser website and also to reach users based on their interests (e.g. "sports enthusiast"). To develop interest categories, we will recognize the types of web pages users visit throughout the Google content network. As an example, if they visit a number of sports pages, we will add them to the "sports enthusiast" interest category. To learn more about your associated account settings, please visit the AdSense Help Center at http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=20310.

Colbert on Twitter

I love this piece, by Steven Colbert, on Twitter!

By the way, most of the people I follow on twitter write in mostly well-formed statements. Half-assed abreviations are not something I enjoy reading.
